As announced earlier this year a brand new collection based
on a series of articles in the David Winter Cottages Collectors Guild magazine
"Cottage Country" has been created by David. |

This new collection will concentrate on the more eccentric
people and their way of life and will contain 6 cottages (see below for
listings):
|
|
| The Beachcomber's |
£45.00 |
| Hornblower's |
£50.00 |
| Guano Heights |
£70.00 |
| Knight's Folly |
£60.00 |
| The Recluse's |
£50.00 |
| The Treehouse |
£55.00 |
|

 |
| The
Recluses |
|
The
strangest cottage in this new collection is "The Recluses" (pictured right). It
is a tall thin cottage which is nearly 24cm in height. This single building
piece stands on a very tall square tower made from tree trunks and wood
panelling. They only way up to the house is via a very tall ladder which as in
this piece is can be retracted so nobody can obtain access. It is priced at
£50.00
Another interesting piece in this collection, "Guano Heights"
(pictured below), is group of houses built on a pinnacle of rock with a winding
path between them. What is the most eye catching thing about this piece is the
very small base. Which ponders the question how do they get it out of the
mould? It is priced at £70.00.

"Knight's Folly" is a typical folly built seemingly for no
reason. With its twisted appearance it has all the signs of being built by an
eccentric landowner. Either that or it is suffering from subsidence and is
slowly collapsing in upon itself. It is priced at £60.00.
"The
Treehouse" stands at 19cm high and is a cylindrical house built on the top of a
large tree trunk. This is in my opinion a truly lovely piece and with door
built into the base of the trunk it has real character. It is priced at
£55.00.

| The
Beachcomber's |

However, the most unusual cottage though I feel is "The
Beachcombers" (pictured right) a house built using an old derelict ship. With
the old funnel as the chimney and its rusty steel plating this piece proves
that David can still create unique and distinct pieces. It is priced at
£45.00.
Last but not least is "Hornblowers". At first it looks the
least strange until you realise it is built on a wooden platform in the sea.
And by the look of the waves crashing by its side it has not been built in a
very calm and tranquil place. It is priced at £50.00.
All these cottages should be available from June 2000
onwards. |
